Description
This CDV depicts Captain Robert Wilson Livingston seated in front of a backdrop with a tree behind his shoulder. He is in his Captain’s uniform of single-breasted frock coat, vest and trousers, without rank insignia. Obviously an older gentleman, Livingston enlisted on 8/20/1862 at age 52 as a captain in Company F, 118th New York Infantry. He was severely wounded in the left shoulder on 5/16/1864 at Drewry’s Bluff, where he was taken prisoner and later paroled. The back of the CDV has a cancelled tax stamp applied, and Livingston is identified in what appears to be modern writing. However, a nearly identical pose is included with his Findagrave memorial, and another similar civilian view is included with his history in Civil War Data. This documentation will be included with the CDV. The CDV is very clear and strong. It is unique with respect to the age of the officer, who was wounded, captured and survived the war.
