Description
Tintype quarter plate
This image came from an estate in Orange, Virginia. The family name is Blair. It is not a perfect image, as there are some light bends that are not easy to see. There are a couple of small dents and a small hole which is under the mat. The image shows well anyway. The soldier is seated at a table with his arm resting on a book. There is light tinting to his cheeks, and he is wearing a typical Southern frock coat with tape trim around the collar. The image is housed in a fair condition thermoplastic case. The case (“The Dance”) depicts adults and children dancing to a violin player. For the price, this is not a bad Confederate quarter plate image.
