Description
Copy Tintype, 5×7
This image is a copy most likely made from an ambrotype. It is in a 5×7 inch format. I do not know when it was made, but I would guess late 1800’s. I have seen an image of an identified Indiana private using the identical flag backdrop and seated in a similar pose. Even as a copy image, the picture has great content. A flag is always a popular item in an image. The soldier is holding a pistol in his belt, which looks like a star revolver. The belt plate design is not clear in the image, but under the arm there appears to be a pistol box on the belt. The image is in good condition except for a small rusty area at the bent elbow. The image does not come in a case. It was likely in a frame at one time.
Note that this image bears a striking resemblance to the Yankee with shoulder scales image listed here. What do you think?
