Description
Very nice sixth plate tintype of a seated Union cavalryman. He is wearing a four-button sack coat with eagle buttons. The design on some of the buttons can be seen under a loupe as there is no gilding on the image. The lack of gilt allows one to clearly see the Union sword belt plate. On the belt are two holstered revolvers. The soldier is nicely posed, seated with his arms on his lap. The halo around the image is far less noticeable in person compared to the scan. Housed in a half leatherette case.
