Description

Very nice sixth plate ambrotype of an unidentified Confederate soldier.  The image came out of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  Inside the case, written in pencil on a piece of paper, are what look to me like the initials “HFP.”  Also written in ink are the letters “CSA.”  The soldier is dressed in a shell jacket with gilded buttons.  The collar is turned down to reveal that he is wearing a tie.  The image comes in a leatherette case with repaired spine.
