Description
Really nice sixth plate ambrotype of a standing Confederate with a musket and bayonet at his side. He has what looks like two Colt pocket pistols in his unusual belt with two roller buckles. The pistol on the left has a 3 inch barrel, and the one on the right has a 4 inch barrel. He is wearing a shell jacket and kepi, and the buttons and roller buckles are gilded. The jacket is not a standard depot type, and with the grain in the cloth and the style of the kepi it could be assumed that this image was taken early in the war with the soldier dressed in his company uniform. This is a very fine Confederate image, and the three weapons make it even better. A closeup of the belt and two pistols is shown here. Housed in a leatherette case with intact spine.
