Description

The Union corporal in this sixth plate tintype is holding a Model 1842 Liege Rifle.  The rifle has a long range sight and is easy to identify, as the lockplate is quite visible.  His waist belt holds a cap box and sabre bayonet for the rifle.  The shoulder strap and eagle plate for his cartridge box are visible.  He wears a frock coat and Hardee hat with infantry bugle insignia.  Except for the dark area at the top, the image is in very good condition and displays well.  It also has great content.  Housed in a leatherette case with repaired spine.
