Description
This fine sixth plate ambrotype depicts a serious Confederate soldier in an octagonal case. He is posed seated while presenting his model 1816 conversion musket. His uniform is well-tailored and is likely standard for his company. The buttons are gilded. His forage cap has letters which likely designate his unit, but I cannot make them out under the gilding. He has a cap box on his leather waist belt and a web belt over his shoulder which could support a cartridge box. A canteen over his other shoulder completes the look. This is a fine Confederate image with great content. It is housed in a nice thermoplastic case.
