Description
Ninth plate ruby ambrotype of a seated Confederate soldier. This soldier has the look of a Mississippian, with the classic style of hat that many of them wore. He is carrying a lot of equipment, some of which is visible and some that is not. He has a cartridge box cross belt with plate, and a leather belt with oval plate, neither of which has a visible design. A bayonet can be seen, as well as the cartridge box. He has two straps across his chest, a leather one likely for his canteen, and a cloth one likely for a haversack. This is a really nice, deep-south Confederate image. Housed in a leatherette case with repaired spine.
