Description
This quarter plate ruby ambrotype is quite uncommon with respect to New Hampshire images. It depicts the soldier in the classic New Hampshire pose with his hat insignia proudly displayed, but additionally the soldier is photographed with his wife. Most of these soldiers were photographed individually. The “NHV” letters are quite clear, as are the infantry bugle and company letter “K.” The regiment number in the loop of the bugle is not clear, but it is two digits, and could be a 16. The image is crystal clear and in excellent condition. It is housed in a complete leatherette case with repaired spine. This image would be a fine addition to a New Hampshire or Union family image collection.
