Description
Charles W. Farish was a 19 year old resident of Caroline Co., VA. On May 6, 1861 he enlisted as a private in Co. B, 9th VA Cavalry (Caroline Light Dragoons). He was promoted to corporal on March 15, 1863, and was wounded on July 8, 1863 in Maryland. He was killed on October 11, 1863 near Brandy Station, VA. Several period inscriptions are written in the case.
