Description
Crystal clear sixth plate ambrotype of an unidentified Confederate soldier. He is wearing a militia style jacket with collar trim that was popular in the South, particularly in Virginia and South Carolina. It was also used by other Southern states. The soldier is posed from the chest up and the image exhibits a nice portrait look. The cheeks are lightly tinted, and the buttons have been gilded. There is no lacquer painted on the back side of the glass, so the image has a piece of old cloth behind it to make it positive. This is a very nice condition Confederate image housed in a complete leatherette case with repaired spine.
